The secret is out, Haiti is the new trendy Caribbean destination! Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Following devastation from a 2010 earthquake and a 2016 hurricane, Haiti has been receiving billions in foreign aid. And since Haiti is consistently ranked among the most corrupt countries in the world, you know what that means- PARTY TIME!
Despite negative US propaganda with regard to living conditions in one of the largest slums in the Northern Hemisphere, almost 60,000 US Haitians receiving Temporary Protected Status (TPS) have announced their intentions to return within 18 months.
In response, the Trump administration has announced that it will not renew the TPS since the Haitians must not want it, even though the administration really, really want’s them to stay.
But discerning travelers know what’s really going on. There are very few things as beautiful as the deforestation that causes periodic and severe flooding in the country. And what could be more exciting than visiting the commune of Cité Soleil – called “the most dangerous place on Earth” by the United Nations.
Add in Haiti’s crushing foreign debt that stretches your dollar to the max, and you can live like kings in homes built like miniature fortresses, located behind walls embedded with metal spikes, barbed wire and broken glass.
So don’t wait- get to Haiti before it get’s swamped with American tourists. Enjoy the quaint humanity of squalor and the still-raging cholera epidemic.
